We couldn't fundraise and put on all the great events for the children without you

so, we are starting with a very BIG ...... THANK YOU!

End of Year Fundraising Update (2022/23)

As we approach the end of the academic year, I wanted to share with you what your incredible support has meant for our school.

I’m not sure if many of you know, but the PTA must raise £10,000 every year to fully support the monthly minibus payments and also subsidise school trips by £5 per child. The minibus is used for both school trips and sporting events. Any additional funds are discussed with the school and an agreement is made as to what they are spent on.

This year, we have raised a fantastic £18,166! So far this year, we have spent £10, 771, in addition to the minibus payments and school trips, we have spent £500 on library books and £388 on bookmarks to honour the coronation.

Last year, we raised enough additional funds (£9,128) to purchase IT equipment for each classroom and lunchtime play equipment which were both delivered at the start of this academic year.

We know how challenging times are for everyone at the moment and as a charity we have seen the huge rise in the cost of stock, but we have tried hard, where we can, to keep costs as low as possible.

Full details of money raised and spent will be shared on school’s social media and the PTA section of the school’s website.

It isn’t just about the fundraising though, being able to put on a firework display to see the children’s faces light up, to provide the opportunity for the children to meet Santa or to give the children independence to choose their own gift for someone special, is hugely rewarding.

Our PTA relies on a very small group of volunteers and this year we say goodbye to some truly amazing year 6 parents whose support has been unwavering. This does mean that we are very light on volunteers going into the new school year, and we would hate to be unable to run our fantastic events as our volunteer numbers dwindle.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they have the heart. I’m reaching out to you today for a small part of your heart, to help us to continue to provide our children with even more fantastic memories at St. John’s.

Thank you again for your tremendous support this year, you are all amazing and I wish you a fantastic summer holiday.

Hannah - Chair of the Parents Association

Upcoming Events

Preloved Uniform

We continue to collect preloved uniforms. If your child has grown out of their uniform or is no longer needed, we have provided collection bins outside the main school reception. Items to include, summer dresses, pinafores, trousers, shorts, skirts, PE kit, pumps.

Clothes will be checked, washed and ready to purchase for a small donation to the PTA. All proceeds will continue to support funding for the school minibus and subside school trips and activities.

If you are in need of a uniform at any time, please email the school or pta@stjohnsprimary.academy and we will always help where we can.

How can you support?

The PTA is run purely by volunteers and we are always in need of any help! How much, or how little, you can help is really up to you!

We have previously had volunteers for Washing and ironing preloved uniform (can be done on your own schedule) Packaging up teddy bears in preparation for fetes, setting up gazebos in preparation for events, collecting stock from local businesses, packaging up leavers party goody bags.

It doesn't matter what your skill set is, chances are there will be opportunities for you to learn something new and meet new people, who knows you may even discover some hidden talents!

The most important thing you can bring is enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in.

We continue to look for volunteers to help with all events so please do get in touch by Emailing us at pta@stjohnsprimary.academy
