Our vision is to inspire curious, knowledgeable and reflective historians who develop a lifelong fascination with the past. Through a rich, ambitious and carefully sequenced History curriculum, children will develop a secure understanding of chronology, explore significant people and events, investigate historical evidence and begin to understand how the past has shaped the world in which they live.
We want our children to ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, recognise different perspectives and appreciate the diversity of human experiences across time. By making meaningful connections between local, national and global history, children will develop a strong sense of identity, community and their place in the wider world.
Through progressive historical enquiry, children will move from exploring their own past and recognising change in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to critically evaluating sources, interpreting contrasting accounts and constructing well-supported historical arguments by the end of Year 6.
Our aim is for every child to leave primary school as a confident, curious and critical young historian, equipped with the knowledge and skills to question, interpret and understand the past.
