This role involves working under the direct instruction of teaching staff, usually in the Early Years provision with the teacher. Provide general support to the teacher in the care of pupils, and management of the classroom.

The position is a mixed role to support children with a range of learning. If appointed, you will work alongside a team of teachers and other practitioners to develop and deliver an appropriate curriculum in line with the children’s needs. We are looking to employ a highly motivated with a “can do” attitude Janitor to join the team at the Academy. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas in accordance with the required standards set by the Academy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the security of the site to ensure all heating systems, plant and equipment is operating satisfactorily. Duties around maintenance and cleaning are also expected including disposing of waste materials, replacing consumables and arranging to clear blockages and clean up spillages as required

The undertaking of porterage tasks will also be required including the setting up and clearing away of furniture. Support to the Facilities Manager will also be expected with regards reporting emergencies in the case of faults with gas, electric and water supplies.

The Janitor will also be expected to provide support to the Academy through promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the children and young persons that they come into contact with. An adherence to all relevant policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection will be expected at all times.

Hours of work will be: 4.30pm – 6.30pm (Mon – Fri)

Cleaners – Hours to suit the Academy programme

We are looking to employ 2 enthusiastic and experienced Cleaners to join the team at the Academy. The successful candidates will be required to be on duty for 42 weeks per year. This comprises 38 weeks during which the pupils are at the Academy and 20 days during closure periods.

The successful candidates will be required to clean a designated area, ensuring that it is kept in a clean and hygienic condition. Ideally, they will have previous experience of undertaking cleaning duties and knowledge relating to the safe use of chemicals and equipment.
