Book Fair and Asda help us out.

Through the efforts of our book fairs and also a liitle help from our local Asda store, Year 4 teacher Mrs Jones has put together some fantastic fun resources for the children here at St John's.

With the success of the book fairs we managed to raise over £1000 which has been re used in purchasing a set of Thesaurus's and Dictionary's which will be used to support the children during their literacy lessons. Asda have kindly donated a few shopping trolleys that store the resources and can be easily moved around the school so that classes have a fun way of both storing and moving them around the site.

Thank you to all our parents, Scholastic and also Asda Cannock in making this all possible!

Sports Update

Yesterday at the academy, lots of pupils attended various sporting events. We represented in the mini Olympics taking 17 pupils to Cheslyn Hay Primary.  All the children had an amazing time participating in various events.  We were successful in being placed first in many, however it was a team effort that resulted in finishing first place overall.

Following the KS1 success our KS2 children were under pressure to perform in the tag Rugby tournament hosted at St John's. 5 schools were included in the tournament and needless to say St John's lived up to the previous success from our KS1 children, winning all their matches and winning the event.

Year 3 and 4 also were involved in the cross country finals held at Cheslyn Hay. There were some outstanding performances and children winning their individual events. Unfortunately, the standard from the other schools was very high and as much as every child put 100% effort and commitment into their race, we were unable to reach the County Finals.

Annual Gymnastics Competition

On Thursday 8th March we here at St John's hosted our annual Gymnastics competition where over 40 children from 4 other local Primary Schools competed.
All children involved enjoyed participating and the experience of showboating their abilities in front of over 70 spectators.

Awards were split between the schools, however St John's pupils placed 1st in Year 4 overall and a special mention to Issac Lewis who is the first boy to achieve first place overall in his age category.
